Review and Possible Action of the Proposed Amendment of Section 7200.B of the Zoning Ordinance Related to Boat and Recreational Vehicle Parking on Residential Lots

Requested Action

Review the draft amendments proposed by the Council Code Enforcement Subcommittee

Description/History

Since the last amendment of the boat and RV parking regulations, the Council Code Enforcement Subcommittee and Code Enforcement staff have been meeting to hear and try to resolve citizen concerns and complaints. As a result, the following amendments have been proposed:

1. Add a new provision in 21.c to allow parking of boats and RVs in front of the house provided that they are at least 100 feet from the property line and 15 feet from the side and rear property lines

2. Propose an alternate provision to prohibit parking of boats and RVs next to a J-swing garage that protrudes from the front of the house

3. Set the grandfathering dates to 3/28/2006 to have more consistent enforcement

4. Return the grandfathering clause related to parking in the front setback that was deleted in the last amendment

5. Delete the 4-times per year restriction on the parking of RVs related to a trip, maintenance or out-of-town visitors
