Requested Action
Approve the Resolution awarding a contract for the Construction of Mouser Way Phase-2 Paving, Drainage and Water Line Improvements to McClendon Construction, LLC, and authorizing funding for an amount not to exceed $2,102,509.89.
Recommendation
The Engineering Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
The project was bid on March 30, 2017 and there were ten bidders for the project. The lowest qualified bidder was McClendon Construction, LLC. Bids ranged from a low bid of $1,883,342.75 to a high bid of $3,059,874.00.

The contract time for this project is one hundred (180) working days or approximately 8 months. The limits for this project are from the end of the existing 49 ft. concrete pavement of Mouser Way Phase1 to the east section of Mouser Way near Hwy 287 service road. This will complete the connection between Mouser Way from Hwy 157 to Hwy 287.

This project includes constructing pavement, drainage and a water line.

The requested funds are for a construction contract in the amount of $1,883,342.75, a 5% construction contingency, material testing, survey, and other miscellaneous services needed to complete the construction of the project, to be accomplished within a budget not to exceed $2,102,509.89.
Staff is recommending award of this project and authorization of funding for an amount not to exceed $2,102,509.89.
Justification
McClendon Construction, LLC. has completed capital work in the City of Mansfield in the past. The Engineering Department feels that McClendon Construction, LLC. has the necessary staff and equipment to complete a job of this size and scope within the allowed contract time.
