Requested Action
Consider the authorization of funding and approval of contracts.
Recommendation
The authorization of funding in an amount not to exceed $37,000 and approval of contracts, including design services with Schrickel, Rollins and Associates, Inc., to prepare Walnut Creek Dr. Right Turn Lane for construction.
Description/History
Preliminary design work by the design consultant has already been performed to help determine the scope of this project. A right turn lane is needed for southbound traffic at Walnut Creek Dr. and Pleasant Ridge Dr. to alleviate current congestion during peak traffic hours which include hours of nearby school traffic operation. Signal modifications will also be needed to accommodate the addition of a right turn lane.
The requested funds are for design services with Schrickel, Rollins and Associates, Inc. in the amount of $24,894.00, an additional 5% design fee for potential design scope changes, survey, and other miscellaneous services, all to be accomplished within a budget of $40,000.00.
Justification
This project will alleviate current traffic congestion in the immediate area along Walnut Creek Dr. and Pleasant Ridge Dr. and is included in the Street Bond Fund Capital Plan.
The Director of Public Works will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed funding and contracts.
