Requested Action

Accept and approve Alternate #1 submitted by Pete Durant & Associates, Inc. to add approximately 3000 sq. ft. to the Mansfield StarCenter project as outlined in the contract documents as prepared by Magee Architects, L.P.

Description/History

Bids were received and opened on October 11, 2016 from Pete Durant & Associates which included an Alternate Bid #1 to provide an approximately 3000 sq. ft. addition to the Mansfield StarCenter project for community gathering space in the amount of $419,975.00. The City of Mansfield awarded Pete Durant & Associates a contract for construction of the Mansfield StarCenter project for a guaranteed maximum cost in the amount of $13,129,749.00 on October 24, 2016 that excluded the bid for Alternant #1.  After further review, staff recommends that Alternant #1 be accepted as bid on October 11, 2016.

 

The additional space provided will be able to provide a fully open space of 3000 sq. ft. or 4 divided individual spaces of 750 sq. ft.   These spaces provide a place to gather and hold various activities, classes, meetings or other interests of the community.

 

As with the existing contract with Pete Durant & Associates, Inc., the proposed cost of $419,975.00 is a Guaranteed Maximum Cost.

 

Justification

The addition of space associated with Alternant #1 will provide community space in the Mansfield StarCenter facility.
