Description/History

The original Planned Development (PD) for this property was approved on July 22, 2002.  On August 14, 2017, the City Council approved a minor modification to the PD to allow the additional use of Family Viewings and Visitation for the Deceased, but not including Mortuary Services, for a period of six (6) months from August 14, 2017.  Per the PD amendment, a request for the extension of this use must be presented to City Council at the first available meeting after the expiration of the six-month period.

The applicant is requesting to extend the aforementioned use for an additional twelve (12) months from February 27, 2018.  The applicant has submitted a letter requesting this extension, while also noting that they have taken proactive measures to address the concerns of Council, including employing security, having adequate staff to inform guests and maintain an orderly flow of visitors, and providing adequate parking and not experiencing any traffic issues.  In addition, the applicant notes that they are current with all City codes and regulatory guidelines and are not aware of any complaints against them.  Planning and Code Compliance staff do not have any record of formal complaints or violations at this address.

Staff recommends approval of extending this use.
