Requested Action

Consider the authorization of funding and approval of contract.

Recommendation

The authorization of funding in an amount not to exceed $462,000.00 and approval to enter into contract for development services with United Properties Southwest, to prepare construction documents for infrastructure to serve the MEDC owned 170 acres.

Description/History

MEDC has been working with United Properties Southwest (UPS) as a consultant to evaluate the viability of developing a 170 acre restricted business park.

All investigations have supported the development of the 170 acres owned by MEDC into the Mansfield International Business Park.

The next step is to contract for the engineering, design and preparation of construction documents for the infrastructure improvements.

The requested funds are for design and management services with United Properties Southwest in the amount of $462,000.00.

On January 22, 2018, the MEDC Board voted 4 to 0 to authorize funding not to exceed $540,000 for these services.

Justification

This project is funded by the MEDC using 4A funds

The Director of Public Works and the Economic Development Director will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed funding and contracts.
