Requested Action
City Council action approving the resolution canvassing the returns of the general election is requested.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
Description/History
A general election was held on May 5, 2018 for the purpose of electing Council Member, Place 3; Council Member, Place 4; and Council Member, Place 5. Unoffical results were provided after the polls closed; however, election results can not be canvassed until provisional and overseas ballots are evaluated and counted. Final election results are expected to be received no later than the evening of Monday, May 14th. The final tabulation will be presented at the meeting.
Justification
Pursuant to Sections 67.002 and 67.003 of the Election Code, the City Council must canvass the election returns no later than May 16, 2018.
