Description/History

The original contract with CK Group, Inc. was approved on May 11, 2015 by Resolution 3097-15.  This contract was to design Turner Warnell Road as a 4-lane divided roadway that connects Callender Road to the existing terminus to the east.  The design contract included paving, drainage and water for an amount not to exceed $218,000.00.

Justification

During the design process many changes occurred that altered the original scope of work. In a joint effort, the coordination of several meetings with the City of Arlington was needed to design the intersection of Turner Warnell Road/Callender Road.  An offsite drainage issue was discovered along Callender Road that required additional drainage design. The elevation of the existing Explorer gas pipeline crossing under Turner Warnell Rd was determined to be too shallow and it was necessary to redesign the roadway profile over the gas pipeline.  Lastly, a waterline extension was added to the design.  All of these items were in addition to the original project design scope and fee.

ROW negotiations were recently completed and we anticipate advertising this project in August 2018.

The Director of Public Works will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed funding and contracts.
