Requested Action
Adoption of the Ordinance

Recommendation
The Public Works Department recommends approval of proposed designated truck/commercial delivery route ordinance.

Description/History
During the 2nd reading of this ordinance the City Council approved the ordinance with the changes listed below by a vote of 7-0.

· Main Street from Mouser Way to Industrial Boulevard has been removed from the ordinance and map (this road will no longer be a commercial delivery route or truck route; however deliveries in downtown will still be able to use this route).

· To facilitate deliveries in the industrial district, South Main Street from Industrial Boulevard to FM 917/Heritage Parkway has been left in the ordinance and map as a commercial delivery route. In addition, Industrial Boulevard and S. 2nd Avenue have been added as commercial delivery routes to facilitate a “loop” through the district.

· Verbiage has been added to ordinance and map stating “when it is necessary to deviate from an established truck or commercial delivery route for access to a destination point, a truck shall deviate only at the intersection with the street nearest to the destination point and shall return to the truck route by the shortest permissible route utilizing commercial delivery routes as much as possible”

· The fine for each offense has been changed from not to exceed $250 to $500.

The Public Works Department worked with the Police Department on these route changes.
