Recommendation
The authorization of funding in an amount not to exceed $609,000 and approval to enter into contract for design services with Evolving Texas, LP and surveying services with Brittain and Crawford, LLC to prepare constuction documents for infrastructure to serve the MEDC owned 170 acres.
Description/History
MEDC acquired approximately 170 acres of land for the development of a first class industrial business park. All due diligence has supported the development of this property.The next step is to contract for the engineering, design and preparation of construction documents for the infrastructure improvements to serve the property.
The requested funds are for engineering and design services with Evolving Texas, LP in the amount of $530,533 with an additional 3% contingency for potential design scope changes and for surveying services with Brittain and Crawford, LLC in the amount of $59,200 plus an additional 3% for potential survey scope changes.
On August 7th, 2013 the MEDC Board voted 6 to 0 to authorize funding not to exceed $609,000 for this project.
Justification
This project is funded by the MEDC using 4A funds and will provide market competitive industrial sites to attract desired industry to Mansfield.
The Director of Public Works and the Economic Development Asssistant Director will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed funding and contracts.
