Recommendation
Approval of the speed limit changes.

Description/History
The Public Works Department annually conducts speed studies on newly constructed roadways and existing roadways to verify that the posted speed limits safely meet the roadway conditions and the speed that 85% of the drivers do not exceed. Recently, Regency Parkway has been extended to connect to Heritage Parkway and Mouser Way has been extended to connect with the U.S. Hwy 287 Southbound Frontage Road. Speed studies have been performed for both roadways. Based upon the studies and coordination with the Mansfield Police Department, the following are recommended changes to Chapter 73 of the Traffic Code of Mansfield.

Speed Limit Changes
· Change the speed limit on Regency Parkway from East Broad Street to Heritage Parkway from 30 MPH to 40 MPH.
· Change the speed limit on Mouser Way from FM 157 to House Road from 30 MPH to 35 MPH.
· Change the speed limit on Mouser Way from House Road to the US Hwy 287 Southbound Frontage Road from 30 MPH to 40 MPH.

AT THE FIRST READING COUNCIL VOTED TO KEEP THE CURRENT 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON MOUSER WAY FROM FM 157 TO HOUSE ROAD. THE OTHER RECOMMENDED CHANGES WERE APPROVED. THESE CHANGES ARE REFELECTED IN THE UPDATED ORDINANCE AND MAP.

Justification
Mouser Way from FM 157 to House Road experiences high vehicle and pedestrian traffic due to the location of Mouser Electronics on both sides of the roadway. A posted speed limit of 35 MPH in this area will increase safety for the Mouser Electronics employees.
