Description/History
The proposed BuyBoard purchase will provide furniture for the new Parks Administration Building, scheduled to open in early 2019. The purchase includes the design, delivery and installation of furniture for a training/meeting room, two conference rooms, reception/lobby area, staff work room, break room, cubicle work stations and offices for staff members of the Parks and Recreation and CVB/Tourism departments.
As part of the approved FY2018-2019 MPFDC Budget, $100,000 was allocated for furniture, fixtures and equipment for the new Parks Administration Building. Staff met with multiple vendors and arranged onsite consultations, measurements and needs assessments. After researching a number of alternatives, the BuyBoard National Purchasing Cooperative was determined to be the most cost-effective method for obtaining furniture and equipment.
iOffice is under contract through the BuyBoard and will provide the office furniture for an estimated amount of $89,500. By utilizing this competitive procurement process and leveraging the cooperative’s bulk discounts, the purchase price represents a 40 percent discount off the list prices for the specified components.
Justification
The proposed purchase is necessary to furnish the new administration building prior to opening in early 2019.
