Title

Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Selecting Julian Feild Park as the Location for the Veteran’s Memorial

Requested Action

Consider Julian Feild Park as the site for a Veteran’s Memorial

Recommendation

Approve Julian Feild Park as the site for the Veteran’s Memorial

Description/History

The Public Memorials Sub-Committee has been meeting over the last year to discuss a possible Veteran’s Memorial in our city. Within the last several months they have met to evaluate 12 different locations. After narrowing their selection to three potential sites, the Sub-Committee and Staff presented the sites to City Council at the December 10, 2018 meeting. Of the three sites presented, Julian Feild Park is the number one recommendation.

In order to move forward in the design process, the Sub-Committee needs City Council to consider and take action in selecting Julian Feild Park as the location for the Veteran’s Memorial.

Justification

The site selection must take place in order for the design process to begin. The Sub-Committee is recommending Julian Feild Park be considered for the Veteran’s Memorial.
