Requested Action

Approve the Ordinance adopting the 2017 edition of the National Electrical Code and its local amendments.

Recommendation

Adopt the Ordinance establishing the 2017 edition of the National Electrical Code and its local amendments as the official electrical code of the City of Mansfield, Texas.

Description/History

The Code Review Committees of the Regional Codes Coordinating Committee (NCTCOG) has reviewed the latest edition of the National Electrical Code and has also produced a set of regional amendments. The National Code and regional amendments were recommended for adoption by cities to promote area-wide uniformity and consistency.

Justification

Adoption of the National Electrical Code and its amendments will provide for an updated standard for construction minimums within the city to ensure safety, health, welfare and protection of the citizens of Mansfield.
