Requested Action
Council to approve the resolution casting votes for a candidate to serve as board member of
Johnson County Appraisal District's Board of Directors for calendar years 2020 and 2021.
Recommendation
Staff is recommending that the City of Mansfield, Texas cast its votes for Byron Black who is
seeking appointment to the board of directors of Johnson County Appraisal District for the next
period of calendar years, 2020 and 2021.
Description/History
Taxing entities within Johnson County Appraisal District of Johnson County, Texas are entitled
to nominate and elect candidates to the County's Appraisal Board. The process allows taxing
authorities to oversee the administrative process of the County's appraisal districts. The City of
Mansfield has fifty (50) votes out of 5,000 votes.
Justification
Texas law provides for the appointment of an Appraisal Board to oversee the administration
and operation of an Appraisal District in Texas. The nomination and appointment of these
Boards is derived from the taxing authorities within the Appraisal District.
