Requested Action

Recommendation

The authorization of funding in an amount not to exceed $132,530.00 and approval of contract for design services with Jerry Parche Consulting Engineers, to prepare Price Road Improvements (South Main Street to East Dallas Street) for public bidding and construction.

Description/History

Price Road is currently a 22-foot wide asphalt street with pavement in poor condition.  The roadway will be reconstructed to a new 26-foot wide asphalt roadway from the existing concrete pavement near South Main Street to East Dallas Street (approximately 2,700 feet).  The project will also include bar ditch and driveway culvert improvements to improve drainage capacity where feasible.  The design will also include the realignment of Price Road at the intersection of East Dallas Street to provide for a safer intersection closer to 90 degrees than the existing intersection.

The requested funds are for design services with Jerry Parche Consulting Engineers in the amount of $92,600.00, an additional 5% design fee contingency for potential additional scope of work, survey, and other miscellaneous services, all to be accomplished within a budget of $132,530.00.

Justification

This project is included in the Street Bond Fund Capital Plan.

The Director of Public Works will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed funding and contracts.
