Description/History
The city intends to contract with the Tarrant County Election Department to hold the Tarrant County portion of the May 2, 2020 General and Special Election. Tarrant County has purchased new equipment (Hart Intercivic Verity Coting System v.2.3.1) to be used in the new EVote centers. This equipment has been certified by the Texas Secretary of State for use on election day, early voting in person and by mail and for provisional voting.
Justification
Section 123.001 of the Texas Election Code requires that "Before a voting system may be used in elections the authority designated by this section, by resolution, order, or other official action of the authority, must adopt the system for use in the elections."
