Description/History

The Tarrant County Public Health's Environmental Health Division has historically inspected and scored all restaurants in Tarrant County except for those located in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills. The City of Mansfield has contracted with the county to provide food establishment inspections within the city limits. As the city has experienced growth and expansion of its commercial food establishments, it is important to create programs that ensure quality maintenance, upkeep, and sanitation is considered. The food establishment standards, registration and inspection requirements found within this ordinance protects the public health and safety of residents and visitors to food establishments within the City of Mansfield.

The program will require two additional inspectors, already approved in the FY2022 budget. Code Compliance is actively looking to hire these inspectors so they are in place and trained prior to the start of the food establishment inspection program, which will begin on January 1, 2022.
