Description/History

The Bud Ervin Water Treatment Plant consist of a numerous amount of equipment needed to produce safe drinking water. The Plant Control System (PCS) consist of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) and several programmable logic controllers (PLC). These components are essential to conduct the day-to-day operations and remain under compliance with the State Regulatory Agency TCEQ.

Justification

The PCS project consists of migrating the existing SCADA system to VT SCADA. This system has a more user-friendly platform and will allow the City to internally modify screens when needed. All aging and obsolete PLC’s will be replaced throughout the control system. These PLC’s control chemical feed pumps, water flow, and water quality analyzers. The implementation of a secure and protected WIFI system will be installed in order to allow for remote access.
