Approval of the resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Arlington for construction of a portion of East Debbie Lane located within the Mansfield City Limits.
Description/History
Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code, also known as the Inter-local Cooperation Contracts Act, authorizes all local governments to contract with each other to perform governmental functions or services including administrative functions normally associated with the operation of the government such as purchasing necessary equipment, supplies and services.The proposed Interlocal Agreement allows the City of Arlington to perform all functions and services required for the design and construction of East Debbie Lane within the city limits of Mansfield.
Arlington is completing the design of East Debbie Lane from the Mansfield City Limits to SH 360. The project is scheduled to bid this Fall with construction to begin at the end of the year.This section of East Debbie Lane will be constructed as a 4-lane divided roadway.The pavement section will match the existing 4-lane divided roadway section in Mansfield. In order to install an eastbound left-turn lane to serve Tabasco Trail and to provide for the necessary pavement markings, approximately 500 feet of the construction will need to take place within the city limits of Mansfield. All costs associated with this project will be borne by the City of Arlington.
Justification
This Interlocal Agreement will allow the City of Arlington and their contractors to perform all necessary work for this project within the Mansfield City Limits.
