Title

Resolution - A Resolution Authorizing the City Manager or his Designee to Publish a Request for Proposals for Vertical Development on the Sites Adjacent to the Location of the New City Hall Facility, Located on Approximately 9 Acres at the Northeast Corner of Regency Parkway and Heritage Parkway, Also Known as “The Reserve”

Requested Action

Authorization to publish a request for proposals for vertical development for two sites adjacent to the new City Hall facility.

Recommendation

Staff recommends the RFP process for this to generate competitive innovation on the type and urban form of vertical developments that could frame the new City Hall. These developments should increase the strength of the civic anchor the will be City Hall, and be a destination for citizens (E.g. corporate headquarters or offices, mixed-use live/work/play, destination restaurants, etc.).

Description/History

Publishing a Request for Proposals (RFP) will result in proposals that allow factors other than the consideration of costs to be evaluated in the selection process. In this case, the RFP may include considerations such as development type, urban form, and descriptions of previous similar projects.
