Description/History
The Resolution supports the application and acceptance of a FEMA SAFER Grant. If the City is awarded the Grant, this will allow for the hiring for six additional fulltime firefighters. The City Council would further agree to provide ongoing funding for the continuous employment of the firefighters approved as a part of the Grant.
Justification
The FEMA SAFER Grant would provide funding for 36 months for the City of Mansfield Fire Department to hire six additional fulltime firefighters. These additional firefighters would enable the Department to meet the NFPA 1710 staffing requirements when responding to fire and emergency incidents.
