Description/History
Each year staff compiles a list of recommended improvements for the existing parks in the City’s park system.
September - The MPFDC approved $265,000 for existing park improvements in the FY 2015-2016 budget. The proposed list for park improvements includes recreation equipment replacement, sports field renovations, Julian Feild playground and ADA, Magnolia Street building renovations, Chandler Park and Sports Complex shade, McKnight batting cage concrete, and signage replacement at McKnight Park East.
November - The existing parks improvements list was approved by the Board
December - No Update
January - The Julian Feild Park improvements have been designed, advertised, and will open for bid on January 28th. The list of improvements include construction of a new ADA walkway from the parking lot to the playground, a small ADA picnic area, new outdoor furnishings, and new playground equipment and surfacing. The Magnolia shop has been painted and updated inside, with exterior items being quoted now. Shade quotes have been received for Chandler Park and the Sports Complex. Staff is reviewing the needs of each facility. The McKnight batting cage concrete will be scheduled in late February or early March. Signage replacement at McKnight will be installed upon completion of the entry drive realignment with the Fieldhouse construction.
February - The bid for construction of improvements at Julian Feild Park is on the agenda for approval under New Business. The exterior improvements for the Magnolia shop are underway with prep for painting and providing a masonry enhancement element. The new roll-up door has been installed. Staff has received the site appraisal. Discussion for quotes is underway for site concrete at the Sports Complex.
