Requested Action
Consider the Resolution awarding a construction contract for Laurel Street, Palm Street, Cedar Street and N. Wisteria Street to Reynolds Asphalt and Construction Company and directing the City Manager to execute contract documents; and authorizing funding for an Amount not to exceed $550,000.00.
Recommendation
The Public Works Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
Cedar Street and Laurel Court were included in the 2016 Capital Improvement Program to be reconstructed as concrete roadways. These roadways along with other streets in the area are currently asphalt with concrete curbs. Laurel Court was recently reconstructed in asphalt. Upon inspection of streets within the vicinity it was determined Laurel Street from Magnolia Street to Palm Street, Palm Street from Laurel Street to N. Wisteria Street, Cedar Street from Magnolia Street to Palm Street and N. Wisteria Street from Magnolia Street to Palm Street were beyond maintenance repair and were in need of complete street rebuilds. The remaining 2 streets in the vicinity are Juniper Street which was rebuilt previously in concrete and Willow Street which is much better shape will be maintained as a street maintenance project and not a CIP project. The rebuilding of these four streets in asphalt will complete the roadways in the area and can be accomplished within the $550,000.00 that was budgeted for the concrete rebuilds.
